Project Baby

Project Baby seems to be the biggest, most energy consuming project I'm working on. It seems to, in a round about way, be driving all of the other projects I'm working on. We've now been trying to have a baby for over three years. Let me just answer a few questions as they inevitably come when we mention having fertility issues...yes, my husband has been tested, yes, we've tried Clomid, yes, we use OPKs, yes, we are seeing a fertility specialist (and have been for the past year), yes we "do it all of the time", yes, I've tried a naturopath, acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage, chiropractor, thyroid, etc., etc., etc. And, I am aware that when you say that, "if I just relax, it will happen" or "maybe we should just adopt and then it will happen" or when the frustrated new parent says, "are you sure you want one of these?", I'm aware that you are not being mean spirited and are trying to help or understand what is going on.

Now that that's out of the way...we're on our 2nd IUI and this round we had multiple days of injections. Hope is especially high - I even ordered a bracelet that says "Hope" that I don't plan on taking off until future baby is born.

Tomorrow I go in for an ultrasound to see how the injections are affecting me. Crossing my fingers that all is well as if things went haywire and a lot of eggies are ready to go, the entire process is cancelled. After three years, I'm starting to feel like a human science project.

This is shiny is something my husband, Jeff, says to me often. It refers to my constantly jumping around to different projects and my need to always be doing something different. Ultimately, I want this to be a place for me to document and keep track of things and a place to build community. A few of my current projects include our over three year project of trying to start a family, adventures with my new sewing machine, beauty, cooking, keeping up with our Boston Terrier, Lucy, travel, gardening, decorating and self- improvement. Welcome and thanks for reading!
